We are looking to appoint a committed and enthusiastic Learning Coach to join our Engineering department, supporting learners across Engineering and Motor Vehicle programmes.
This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in helping learners aged 16–18 to develop the confidence, independence, study skills and personal development needed to succeed on their programme and progress to positive destinations. The successful candidate will support a caseload of learners, deliver Personal Development sessions, and provide one-to-one tutorial support focused on attendance, progress, wellbeing, employability, and progression.
Engineering is a busy and practical curriculum area, and the Learning Coach role is central to ensuring learners are supported both inside and outside of the classroom. You will work closely with teaching staff, Programme Leads, support teams, parents/carers and external agencies where appropriate, helping to identify concerns early and support learners to overcome barriers to success.
The successful candidate will be able to build positive and professional relationships with a diverse range of learners. You will be confident in approaching difficult or sensitive issues in a calm, supportive and responsible manner, while maintaining high expectations for learner behaviour, attendance, and engagement.
You will have:
-
Level 2 minimum in maths and English, or equivalent.
- A Level 3 vocational qualification, or equivalent.
- Strong communication and organisational skills.
- The ability to support, motivate, and challenge young people.
- A calm, professional, and solution-focused approach.
Experience of working in Engineering, Motor Vehicle or a similar vocational area would be advantageous, as would experience of providing information, advice and guidance to young people.
This post is available as either 29.6 or 37 hours per week depending on the successful candidate’s preference and department requirements.
For more details, please take a look at the role description. We'll still consider applications even if you don't meet every single one of the requirements, so don't be put off if you don't match them perfectly.
