We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Night Adult Nurse to join our dynamic healthcare team. Responsibilities
- Deliver comprehensive patient care during night shifts, including assessments, observations, and timely interventions.
- Administer medications accurately following prescribed protocols, ensuring patient safety at all times.
- Maintain detailed and accurate documentation of patient conditions, treatments, and responses to care.
- Monitor vital signs and recognize early signs of deterioration to escalate care promptly.
- Support patients with personal needs such as hygiene, mobility, and comfort measures with kindness and professionalism.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to coordinate effective care plans tailored to individual patient needs.
- Follow strict infection control procedures and uphold health and safety standards throughout your shift.Organisation-wide:
- Make a positive and creative contribution to strategy and policy formation in relation to the Care Home.
- Ensure that all staff in the Care Home complies with all relevant legislative and regulatory frameworks as prescribed by bodies such as Care Quality Commission Birmingham Social Services etc.
- Implement and maintain a robust quality assurance system to ensure a consistent high standard of care in line with regulatory requirements and best practice.
- Build and maintain effective working relationships with local authorities, local health boards/trusts etc. partner organisations and suppliers and contractors to promote the interests of Newday Nursing Home and its service users.
- To represent Newday Nursing Home in a professional and positive manner at all times and in all communications with stakeholders.
Functional:
1. To work alongside and deputise for the Registered Nursing Home Manager.
2. Contribute to the review plans, policies and procedures for all aspects related to the running of the Care Home in line with current, emergent and anticipated needs, best practice, and carry out audits, regulatory requirements and legislation.
3. Ensure the provision of a high standard of nursing and social care which directly relates to care plans and the regularly reassessed needs of service users.
4. Make decisions based on the pre-assessed care needs of potential service users regarding suitability of placements and facilitate all admission process.
5. Ensure that local social and health care plans are in place for all service users and they are person-centred and regularly reviewed.
6. In line with Newday Nursing Home Care guidelines, market the service proactively through the distribution of literature about the service, showing prospective residents, families and relevant professionals the Home.
7. Ensure the continuous monitoring and evaluation of the quality of service provision in consultation with service users, their relatives, front-line staff and relevant professionals.
8. Ensure that the clinical governance policy and associated processes are adhered to and regularly reviewed.
9. To ensure that all nursing and care staff work in line with the National Nursing and Midwifery Council Codes of Conduct and the General Social Care Council.
10. Ensure that all staff are adequately inducted and provided with regular supervision.
11. To keep clinical knowledge up to date in line with post registration education and practice requirements.
12. Create and maintain close links with the adult protection lead within the local Social Services Team and ensure that adult protection procedures are followed and that all staff are suitably trained.
13. Ensure that there are meaningful mechanisms in place which facilitate service users having an input into the running of the service.
14. Encourage service users to maintain contacts with family and friends and to make use of local community facilities.
15. Answer the Nurse call system, giving assistance when required. Answer the door and telephone appropriately, respond accordingly and pass on messages promptly as required.
16. To participate in staff meetings as and when required.
17. To maintain confidentiality in relation to the personal and private affairs of the service users.
18. To maintain confidentiality in relation to the business/affairs of the Nursing Home.
19. To undertake any other relevant and reasonable duties within the requirement of the lead nurse job role.

Skills
- Strong knowledge of anatomy and physiology relevant to adult patient care.
- Proven experience in delivering patient-centered nursing care in a hospital or clinical setting.
- Proficiency in medication administration with attention to detail and adherence to safety protocols.
- Excellent observational skills to detect subtle changes in patient conditions quickly.
- Compassionate communication skills to provide reassurance and clear information to patients and their families.
- Ability to work independently during night hours while maintaining high standards of care.
- Flexibility and resilience to adapt to the dynamic environment of overnight healthcare delivery.

1. Help in meeting the occupancy targets and have proactive systems in place to fill vacancies.
Staffing:
1. Manage and ensure the adequate supervision of a team of staff for Newday Nursing Home.
2. Help the home manager in monitoring sickness absence levels and implementing sickness management policies.
3. Use appropriate learning tools and standards such as NVQs/ QCF, Care Certificate.
4. Ensure that staff receive appraisals and supervisions within agreed time scales.
