We are partnering with a community-focused school in Harrow that is looking to strengthen its pastoral team with an experienced Behaviour Mentor. The school has a clear commitment to helping pupils feel safe, understood and supported, particularly those who may find the school environment challenging.
Staff take a collaborative approach to pupil support, working closely with teaching teams, SEN staff and families to identify what is behind a pupil's behaviour and put effective support in place.

About the Role
The school is looking for a calm, resilient and compassionate Behaviour Mentor to join its pastoral team.
You will work closely with pupils on a 1:1 and small-group basis, supporting them to manage their behaviour, develop emotional regulation skills and engage positively with education.
You will build strong relationships with pupils and work alongside teachers, SEN staff, pastoral teams and families to ensure consistent strategies are in place.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide 1:1 and small-group mentoring to pupils with behavioural and emotional needs
- Build positive, trusting relationships with pupils
- Support pupils to understand and manage their emotions and behaviour
- Promote positive behaviour and respectful relationships
- Help pupils develop coping strategies and emotional regulation skills
- Identify potential triggers and barriers that may impact pupil behaviour
- Support pupils before, during and after challenging situations
- Encourage pupils to develop confidence, resilience and independence
- Work with teachers, SENCOs and pastoral staff to implement behaviour strategies
- Support individual behaviour plans and pastoral interventions
- Monitor pupil behaviour and progress and provide regular feedback
- Help pupils re-engage with learning following incidents or periods of difficulty
- Support pupils during lessons, transitions, breaktimes and other school activities
- Communicate professionally with staff, parents and other relevant professionals
- Contribute to creating a calm, safe and positive school environment
The Ideal Candidate Will Have
- Previous experience working with children or young people with behavioural or emotional needs
- Experience in a school, youth work, mentoring, care or similar setting
- Experience providing 1:1 or small-group support
- A calm, patient and resilient personality
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
- Confidence supporting pupils who may display challenging behaviour
- An understanding of positive behaviour management
- The ability to remain calm and consistent in difficult situations
- A non-judgemental and empathetic approach
- A genuine passion for supporting children and young people's wellbeing
- The ability to work effectively as part of a wider pastoral team
- Relevant qualifications in Behaviour, Education, Youth Work, Psychology, Counselling or similar are desirable
- Must have a DBS on the Update Service or be willing to apply

Pay: £95.00-£115.00 per day
