Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and technically skilled Gym Engineer to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for maintaining, repairing, and optimising gym equipment and facilities to ensure a safe, efficient, and enjoyable environment for all members. The Gym Engineer will play a vital part in ensuring the smooth build and operation of all gym-related systems and equipment, supporting the overall health and safety standards of the premises.
Duties
- Conduct routine inspections and preventative maintenance on all gym equipment, including cardio machines, weights, and specialised fitness apparatus.
- Troubleshoot technical issues promptly and efficiently, coordinating repairs with external service providers when necessary.
- Oversee the installation of new equipment, ensuring compliance with safety standards and manufacturer specifications. Flooring experience advantageous but not essential as training will be provided
- Maintain detailed records of maintenance activities, repairs, and equipment upgrades.
- Collaborate with the management team to develop schedules for equipment servicing to minimise downtime.
- Monitor electrical and mechanical systems within the gym facilities to prevent malfunctions or hazards.
- Assist in implementing safety protocols related to equipment use and facility operations.
- Ensure that all health and safety regulations are adhered to in accordance with industry standards.
Skills
- Proven experience in mechanical or electrical engineering, preferably within a fitness or sports facility environment.
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to diagnose technical issues efficiently.
- Knowledge of electrical systems, hydraulics, or pneumatic systems is desirable.
- Excellent organisational skills with attention to detail in maintenance documentation.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team under minimal supervision.
- Good communication skills for liaising with external contractors and internal staff.
- Flexibility to respond quickly to urgent repair needs outside regular working hours if required.
- Relevant qualifications such as NVQ or City & Guilds in engineering or maintenance are advantageous.
