In this role, you will be responsible for preparing nutritious, appealing, and age-appropriate meals for young children in our nursery setting. Responsibilities
- Prepare and cook a variety of healthy meals and snacks tailored to young children's dietary needs and preferences
- Follow established menus and nutritional guidelines to ensure balanced meal offerings
- Maintain high standards of food safety, cleanliness, and hygiene in all kitchen activities
- Manage food inventory, order supplies as needed, and ensure proper storage of ingredients
- Collaborate with nursery staff to accommodate special dietary requirements or allergies
- Assist with meal service, ensuring timely delivery of food to children in a friendly manner
- Keep detailed records of food preparation, storage temperatures, and cleaning schedules
Qualifications must have or be willing to work towards
- Proven experience in food preparation and cooking, preferably within a childcare or similar setting
- Knowledge of food safety regulations and best practices for handling young children's meals
- Strong skills in meal preparation, kitchen organization, and maintaining cleanliness standards
- Previous experience working in a restaurant or catering environment is highly desirable
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while ensuring quality and safety standards are met
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with team members
- Flexibility to adapt menus based on dietary needs or special requests
