Digital Content & Social Media Manager (Contractor)About SCYS
The Southwark Catholic Youth Service (SCYS) helps young people encounter Jesus Christ and grow as missionary disciples through retreats, events, schools ministry, pilgrimages and young adult formation across the Archdiocese of Southwark.
We're looking for a creative and proactive contractor to lead our digital communications, helping tell the story of what God is doing through SCYS with professionalism, creativity and authenticity.

The Role
Working closely with the Director of Youth Service, you will manage SCYS's digital presence, creating engaging content from photos, videos and other material provided by our team, volunteers and external creatives.
You will coordinate with our design partner (ManyPixels), maintain our website and help develop a consistent, high-quality digital presence. You'll also be encouraged to bring fresh ideas, identify opportunities and help shape the future of SCYS's digital communications.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage SCYS's social media platforms.
- Develop and maintain a content calendar.
- Plan, schedule and publish engaging content.
- Create Reels, carousel posts and short-form video.
- Edit photographs and video for digital use.
- Write compelling captions, website copy and promotional content.
- Maintain and update the SCYS website.
- Liaise with ManyPixels to commission and review graphics.
- Ensure consistent branding across all digital platforms.
- Monitor analytics and recommend improvements.
- Advise on social media trends and best practice.
- Help develop creative campaigns to promote SCYS events, initiatives and the liturgical year.
Essential Skills & Experience
- Proven experience managing social media for an organisation or brand.
- Excellent copywriting, photo editing and short-form video editing skills.
- Experience with Canva, Meta Business Suite and website content management systems (e.g. WordPress).
- A strong understanding of current social media trends and best practice.
- Experience using AI tools to improve productivity and content creation appropriately.
- Excellent organisational skills with the ability to work independently.
- A strong portfolio demonstrating high-quality digital content.
Faith Requirement
Because this role communicates the mission of the Catholic Church, applicants should be practising Catholics or be able to demonstrate a deep understanding of, and genuine commitment to, communicating the Catholic faith accurately, faithfully and positively.

Contractor Arrangement
This is a self-employed contractor role, averaging approximately 30–40 hours per month, worked flexibly around agreed deadlines and key events.
Fee: £900–£1,400 per month, depending on experience.
The successful contractor will invoice monthly for work undertaken.
