Multy Lift are looking for a well organised, clean Workshop Engineer/Mechanic to join our workshops. A basic knowledge of engines/mechanics and engineering is required and a basic knowledge of paint spraying and prepping is an advantage but a willingness to learn is Paramount. This role involves all aspects of Workshop processes, preparing surfaces for painting by cleaning, sanding, masking to ensure a high-quality finish. The ideal candidate will have experience in surface preparation and an Mechanical background
Responsibilities
- Inspect surfaces for contamination, damage, or imperfections.
· Required to remove wheels and panels from forklift trucks and attachments, keep all paperwork and parts in a tidy and accessible condition.
- Clean and degrease surfaces to be painted.
- Scrape and sand surfaces to remove imperfections.
- Fill cracks, dents, or other damaged panels, with appropriate filling material.
- Mask and protect areas that should not be painted.
- Spray all required areas of the forklifts & attachments.
· Re-assemble panels, wheels. battery etc.
- Maintain a clean and safe working environment at all times.
- Assist engineers in working on other machines.
- Change tyres using a Hydraulic press
- Store paint & all other materials properly to ensure they remain in good condition
- Adhere to all safety protocols and procedures
- Full Training will be given and ongoing
Ideal Requirements
- Previous experience as an Engineer/Paint Prepper or in a similar role.
- Ability to use sanding, masking, and priming tools effectively.
- Strong attention to detail, quality control and self motivation
- Good understanding of safe working regulations in a workplace & spray booth and how to use the clean air system and heating controls, compressors & air guns is an advantage but not essential
- Good time keeping, focused and able to work on your own and to a timeframe.
- Good hand-eye coordination and physical stamina.
- In addition to painting you will be required to carry other mechanical tasks such as changing tyres and steam cleaning machines. Training will be given, however a basic mechanical knowledge is essential.
Working Hours
The working hours for this position are 40 hours per week, from 8am to 5pm, Monday to Friday, Excluding Bank Holidays, with a 15 minute break in the morning and afternoon and half an hour for lunch. We do occasionally require working on a Saturday and this is paid double time.
