The Company is a well-established steel fabrication and engineering business with a strong reputation for delivering high-quality bespoke products across the UK and internationally. Due to continued growth, the Company is seeking an experienced Workshop Technician / Bandsaw Operator to join its production team.
The Role
This is a hands-on workshop role responsible for cutting steel materials accurately using horizontal bandsaws, preparing materials for fabrication, and supporting the smooth running of workshop operations. The successful candidate will be committed to producing high-quality work while maintaining excellent standards of safety and housekeeping.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate bandsaws to cut steel sections to specification.
- Read and interpret engineering drawings and cutting lists.
- Measure, mark, and prepare materials accurately.
- Ensure materials are correctly identified and organised for production.
- Carry out routine equipment checks and basic maintenance.
- Operate lifting equipment safely (training provided if required).
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organised working environment.
- Support the fabrication team with general workshop duties as required.
About You
- Previous experience operating bandsaws within a steel fabrication or engineering environment.
- Ability to read engineering drawings and use measuring equipment accurately.
- Good attention to detail and commitment to quality.
- Reliable, hardworking, and able to work as part of a team.
- Strong awareness of Health & Safety in a manufacturing environment.
- Forklift experience would be an advantage but is not essential.
