This is a great opportunity to join our team as a Local Resilience Forum Officer. The role is to support the Head of Resilience and Emergencies and the Local Resilience Forum Manager in delivering the secretariat arrangements of the North Yorkshire Local Resilience Forum (NYLRF).
The role is key to ensuring effective governance and management arrangements are in place to support organisations with statutory duties to prepare for, respond to and recover from emergencies and major incidents that impact North Yorkshire
The Resilience and Emergencies Team is also responsible for ensuring North Yorkshire Council is prepared to support communities before, during and after emergencies and disruptive events.
The team works together with multi-agency partners to enable the Council and other public services to anticipate, assess, prevent, prepare for, respond to, recover from and continuously improve their arrangements to emergencies. We coordinate the Council’s arrangements for compliance with the Civil Contingencies Act and provide policy and secretariat support to the North Yorkshire Local Resilience Forum.
As an LRF Officer, you will support the development and maintenance of effective partnership working across the LRF, helping to provide leadership, coordination and direction to achieve consensus among the diverse organisations within the Local Resilience Forum. You will contribute to the planning, preparation, training, exercising and assurance activities that underpin local resilience arrangements.
The successful candidate will also be expected to support a voluntary out-of-hours on-call rota and provide support when emergencies and major incidents occur.
You will need to be able to work collaboratively within a team and build and maintain strong professional relationships with a wide range of partners and stakeholders.
The role will also require you to have experience in supporting the management and monitoring of information and systems, as well as dealing effectively with challenging and unplanned demands. You will have strong organisational and communication skills, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team to support the delivery of key resilience and emergency planning activities.
A level of prior understanding of Local Resilience Forums and the statutory requirements of the Civil Contingencies Act and associated legislative frameworks would be beneficial.
