Job Summary
We are seeking a professional HGV Class 1 Driver to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for the safe and efficient transportation of goods, primarily utilising refrigerated lorries for delivery purposes. This role offers an excellent opportunity for experienced drivers with a strong focus on commercial driving and delivery services. The ideal applicant will possess a valid HGV licence and CPC qualifications, along with relevant experience in driving large vehicles across various routes.
Driver will be responsible for supermarket deliveries within Scotland only.
Shifts are planned for average of 10hrs per day.
Fixed start times for dayshift and nightshift available.
5 days per week with fixed rest days
Duties
- Operate HGV Class 1 vehicles, predominantly refrigerated lorries, in compliance with all road safety and traffic regulations
- Safely load and secure cargo on trailer, ensuring stability during transit
- Conduct routine vehicle inspections before and after journeys to identify any maintenance issues
- Plan and follow optimal routes to ensure timely deliveries across designated locations
- Assist with loading and unloading goods at delivery points, adhering to health and safety standards
- Complete all necessary documentation accurately, including delivery notes and logbooks
- Maintain a professional manner when interacting with clients and colleagues during deliveries
- Follow company policies regarding driving hours, rest periods, and vehicle usage
Experience
- Proven experience as a commercial driver, specifically with refrigerated vehicles or similar large lorries
- Demonstrable driving skills with a clean driving record and valid HGV Class 1 licence
- Prior experience in delivery driving is highly desirable
- Knowledge of road regulations and safety procedures related to commercial vehicle operation
- Ability to handle physical tasks associated with loading and unloading cargo efficiently
- Familiarity with route planning tools and GPS navigation systems is advantageous
