Project & Operations Manager
Salcombe, South Devon | Full-time, permanent | £55,000-£70,000
A senior role at a specialist holiday home design and delivery business on one of the UK’s most beautiful coastlines, where the client’s experience of the journey matters as much as the standard of the finish.
About REFURB
We're not a typical renovations business, and not a pure design studio - we sit in the middle. For fifteen years we’ve created considered interiors for holiday homes across Salcombe, the South Hams and the wider South Devon coast, and seen them through to handover with our own trades and a trusted local network. From the first conversation with a client to the moment they unlock the door on a finished home, the journey stays with us.
Our clients aren't here when we're working - they live elsewhere and trust us to transform their place to a vision on their behalf. We hold that trust by carrying the complexity for them - the coordination, the practicalities, the day-to-day of running a project from a distance - while bringing only the decisions they need to make to the table, simply and collaboratively. We want the experience to be the joy of seeing it come together, not the burden of getting there. What they come back for, in the end, is the standard of the finish - every detail thought through, every choice considered, by people who take quiet pride in getting it right. It's why repeat business is the engine of REFURB.
The role
This is a senior, dual-focused position working closely with our Founder Director - the key partner in delivery and in the day-to-day running of the team. You'll take ownership of project delivery, running a handful of concurrent renovations at any one time, each one given the same standard of care whether it's a single-room makeover or a full refurbishment. You'll also help us keep the business itself in good order: workflow, resourcing, internal rhythm, the quieter things that make a small company feel well-organised rather than stretched.
You'll be the calm, considered presence that clients - many of them absent owners - rely on to absorb the complexity of a renovation on their behalf. It suits someone who enjoys both ends of the day: planning and people management at one end, practical, solutions-focused work on the ground at the other. For the right candidate, this is also a route to a directorship and equity over time.
You'll fit if you…
- Take real pride in the standard of the work - both the programme and the finish - and can talk us through work you’re proud of.
- Have supported and developed teams to do their best work - and enjoy doing it.
- Are commercially aware and confident on budgets, margins and supplier relationships.
- Have the temperament to absorb complexity quietly, leaving clients with peace of mind rather than another thing to worry about.
- Communicate clearly and directly, equally at home with clients, trades and the team.
- Have a feel for the South Hams, the South West coast, or somewhere similar - or want to make it home.
What's on offer
- £55,000-£70,000 depending on experience. Where you land in the range reflects your experience running concurrent projects and your background in operations leadership.
- Clear pathway to a directorship and equity for the right candidate after 18-24 months.
- A genuinely rewarding role at the heart of a respected, well-established business.
- Office and site-based in Salcombe - sailing, beaches, walking, well-regarded schools, and easy reach of Totnes and Exeter.
- A founder-led business with the added stability of wider group backing.
We welcome applications from people of all backgrounds and experiences, and recognise that strong candidates may not meet every single criterion listed. We welcome candidates relocating to the area with a package and are flexible on start date to accommodate a move.
