Front of House Bar Team MemberThe Dry Dock LeedsAbout The Dry Dock
The Dry Dock is no ordinary pub. Set aboard a converted boat on Woodhouse Lane, right in the heart of Leeds, we’re a venue built for good times — from relaxed daytime drinks and pub food to big nights out, live sport, bottomless brunches and some of the city’s most memorable events.
We’re a lively, social and welcoming venue with something happening throughout the week. Whether it’s a student night, a quiz, karaoke, busy weekend, an Otley Run stopping by or guests settling in to watch the sport, our team is at the centre of creating the atmosphere that makes Dry Dock what it is.
We’re looking for a Front of House Bar Team Member who wants to be part of that.
The Role
As a Front of House Bar Team Member, you’ll be one of the faces of Dry Dock. You’ll be serving great drinks, looking after guests and helping create the energetic, friendly atmosphere our customers come back for.
You’ll be just as comfortable serving a perfectly poured pint as you are making cocktails, helping a group celebrate a big occasion or keeping your cool when the venue is packed and the bar is flying.
No two shifts will necessarily be the same — and that’s exactly what makes working at Dry Dock different.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Welcoming guests with a friendly, upbeat attitude and making them feel at home on board.
- Taking orders and serving a wide range of beers, ciders, spirits, cocktails, soft drinks and other beverages.
- Getting to know our drinks range and confidently making recommendations to customers.
- Delivering great service during everything from relaxed daytime trade to high-energy late-night sessions.
- Serving food and drinks efficiently while maintaining a high standard of customer service.
- Supporting our bottomless brunches, events, parties and busy student nights.
- Helping create an exciting atmosphere during live sport, karaoke, quizzes and other events.
- Keeping the bar stocked, clean, organised and ready for the next round of customers.
- Working as part of the wider front-of-house team to keep service running smoothly.
- Handling busy periods positively and staying calm when the venue gets loud, full and fast-paced.
- Following licensing, Challenge 25, health and safety and responsible alcohol service procedures.
- Looking after the venue and helping maintain the unique character of Dry Dock.
- Most importantly, making sure every customer leaves having had a great time.
What We’re Looking For
You don’t need to have worked on a boat before — but you do need to enjoy working with people.
We’re looking for someone who is:
- Friendly and approachable — you’ll be one of the first people our guests interact with.
- Energetic — Dry Dock can get seriously lively, particularly during events and weekends.
- Confident — happy chatting to customers, taking orders and working behind a busy bar.
- Fast and organised — able to keep standards high when the bar gets busy.
- A team player — willing to jump in wherever the team needs you.
- Positive under pressure — busy shifts are part of the fun, not something that puts you off.
- Responsible — you understand the importance of responsible alcohol service and creating a safe environment.
- Guest-focused — you care about giving people a genuinely good experience rather than simply serving drinks.
- Flexible — happy working evenings, weekends and late finishes when required.
Previous bar or hospitality experience is useful, but personality, attitude and a willingness to learn are just as important.
Why Work at Dry Dock?
This is a role for someone who wants to work somewhere with energy, personality and plenty going on.
You’ll be part of one of Leeds’ most distinctive venues, working in a team where the atmosphere can change completely from one shift to the next. One day you could be serving daytime food and drinks; the next you could be right in the middle of a packed event, bottomless brunch or late-night session.
You’ll build real hospitality experience across:
- High-volume bar service
- Cocktails and craft beer
- Food and drink service
- Events and parties
- Bottomless brunches
- Live sport
- Student and late-night trade
- Customer service and guest experience
If you’re outgoing, hardworking and love the buzz of a busy pub, The Dry Dock could be your kind of place.
The Person We Want
We’re not looking for someone who just wants to stand behind a bar.
We want someone who wants to be part of the experience.
Someone who can have a laugh with customers, work hard with their team, keep their head when the bar is packed and still make every guest feel welcome.
If that sounds like you, we’d love to hear from you.
