We are seeking an experienced and dedicated Social Worker (Level 2) to join our Children's Services team and play a vital role in safeguarding and improving the lives of children, young people and their families. As a Social Worker (Level 2), you will manage a varied and complex caseload, undertake robust assessments, identify and manage risk, and work collaboratively with children, families, carers and partner agencies. You will also support the professional development of colleagues through casework supervision while contributing to service improvement, best practice and the ongoing development of policies within your specialist area.
Responsibilities of the Social Worker (Level 2) role

Manage a complex caseload involving children, young people and families, ensuring interventions are timely, effective and outcome focused.

Undertake comprehensive assessments of need, risk and protective factors, developing plans that promote safety, wellbeing and positive outcomes.

Build strong, trusting relationships with children, young people, families and carers to enable informed decision-making and active participation in planning.

Deliver strengths-based, child-centred social work practice in line with statutory responsibilities, legislation and professional standards.

Identify, assess and manage safeguarding concerns, implementing appropriate interventions to reduce risk and protect vulnerable children.

Provide casework supervision, coaching and professional guidance to less experienced practitioners, supporting high standards of practice across the team.

Work collaboratively with education, health, police, voluntary organisations and other partner agencies to coordinate effective multi-agency support.

Prepare high-quality reports, assessments and court documentation where required, maintaining accurate and timely case records.

Act as a recognised source of professional expertise within your specialist field, promoting evidence-based practice and continuous improvement.

Contribute to the development of service policies, practice standards and innovative approaches that improve outcomes for children and families.

Participate in team meetings, reflective supervision, training and continuous professional development.

Skills and Background of the Social Worker (Level 2) role
We are looking for an experienced Social Worker (Level 2) with excellent assessment, analytical and relationship-building skills who is passionate about achieving the best possible outcomes for children and young people.
The successful Social Worker (Level 2) will demonstrate:

A recognised Social Work qualification and current registration with Social Work England.

Significant post-qualification experience within Children's Social Care, including managing complex cases.

Strong knowledge of safeguarding legislation, child protection procedures and statutory guidance relevant to Children's Services.

Proven ability to undertake complex assessments, manage risk and make sound professional decisions in challenging situations.

Experience providing casework supervision, mentoring or practice support to colleagues.

Excellent communication, report writing and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with children, families and partner agencies.
