Job Title: FP & A Manager
Salary: £50,000 - £55,000 per annum
Working Pattern: Hybrid, with regular travel to our Head Office in Leicester
Reports to: Finance Director
About the Role
We are seeking an experienced and commercially focused FP&A Manager to join our growing finance team. This is a fantastic opportunity for a driven finance professional to step into a role with real influence, shaping how the business understands and improves its performance.
Reporting to the Finance Director, you will play a key role in improving business performance by delivering insightful financial analysis, challenging operational performance, and supporting managers to make informed, commercially sound decisions.
This is a highly collaborative role requiring strong business partnering skills and the ability to turn financial data into meaningful operational action. You will work closely with operational leaders across residential supported living and day services to improve financial performance, while also supporting the annual budgeting and forecasting process. You will also lead and develop an FP&A Analyst, helping to build a high-performing, forward-thinking finance function.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Planning & Analysis
- Produce monthly budget vs actual analysis across all business units.
- Investigate financial variances and identify underlying drivers.
- Develop meaningful KPIs and performance dashboards.
- Support annual budgets, reforecasts and long-term planning.
- Analyse trends and provide recommendations to improve profitability.
Business Partnering
- Work closely with operational managers to understand financial performance.
- Challenge spending and identify opportunities to improve efficiency.
- Support managers in developing action plans to reduce adverse variances.
- Monitor progress against agreed improvement initiatives.
- Provide financial support for operational decision making.
Commercial Analysis
- Analyse staffing costs, agency usage and occupancy trends.
- Support fee uplift submissions through robust financial analysis.
- Identify opportunities to improve margins and operational efficiency.
- Deliver ad hoc financial modelling to support business decisions.
Reporting
- Prepare monthly management reports and performance packs.
- Present financial insights to the Finance Director and senior operational management.
- Ensure reporting is timely, accurate and focused on key business drivers.
Team Leadership
- Manage and develop the FP&A Analyst.
- Promote continuous improvement in reporting and analysis.
- Improve reporting processes through automation and system enhancements where appropriate.
What We're Looking For
- A qualified accountant (ACA / ACCA / CIMA) or equivalent experience in an FP&A or commercial finance role.
- A track record of business partnering with operational, non-finance stakeholders.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to translate complex data into clear, actionable insight.
- Advanced Excel skills; experience with BI/reporting tools and financial modelling is a strong advantage.
- Excellent communication and influencing skills, with the confidence to challenge constructively at all levels.
- Prior experience of, or a genuine interest in, the health and social care sector is desirable.
- Proven people management experience, or readiness to take management responsibility.
