Senior Housekeeper - Live-In • Grade I Listed Stately Home & Estate
Salary up to £40,000 per annum, plus live-in accommodation
We are seeking an exceptional Senior Housekeeper to take the next step in their career, leading the housekeeping function across a magnificent Grade I listed stately manor home, together with its surrounding business environments, including event spaces and an estate office.
This is a rare opportunity for a housekeeper with outstanding standards, meticulous attention to detail and strong organisational skills to move into a senior, hands-on leadership role within a prestigious private estate.
ABOUT THE ROLE
- Take day-to-day responsibility for housekeeping standards throughout the manor house, ensuring every room is maintained to an exceptional and consistent standard.
- Lead, supervise and roster a team of housekeepers and part-time staff, including staff bookings and holiday management.
- Work hands-on alongside the team every day — this is an active, working role rather than a purely supervisory position.
- Oversee the care of fine antiques, fabrics and furnishings, laundry, bed changes and deep-cleaning programmes.
- Provide silver service and professional table service for family meals, dinner parties and estate events.
- Manage the housekeeping budget alongside estate management, monitoring spend and reporting on variances.
- Coordinate the cleaning of the estate office and surrounding event spaces to a professional, business-ready standard.
- Organise maintenance visits and liaise with contractors and estate staff to keep the house running smoothly.
- Assist with day-to-day security of the property, including alarm systems, and support with light kitchen duties as required.
ABOUT YOU
- A current housekeeper looking for a genuine step up into a senior, hands-on leadership role.
- Exceptionally strong housekeeping skills with a keen eye for detail and pride in your standard of work.
- Excellent organisational and time-management skills, comfortable managing competing priorities and a rota-based team.
- Experience supervising or managing staff, with a calm, professional and discreet manner.
- Flexible, adaptable and willing to muck in wherever needed, with a genuine passion for hospitality and heritage properties.
- Willing to live in and work flexibly across a 3-week rota, including evenings and weekends.
HOURS & PACKAGE
- Salary up to £40,000 per annum, depending on experience.
- An average of 40 hours per week, worked on a 3-week rota including evenings and weekends.
- Live-in accommodation: a spacious 3-bedroom bungalow, with heating included as the property is powered by biomass.
