About us
Providence provides supported accommodation to vulnerable adults across Birmingham. We work hard to give our residents not just a place to live, but genuine ongoing support -- and we take that responsibility seriously. We're growing and building the team to match.
The role
This is a hands-on management role with two core responsibilities: leading our support worker team and keeping our Housing Benefit income on track.
You'll manage the day-to-day of our support workers -- scheduling visits, monitoring the quality of their work, running one-to-ones and appraisals, and making sure every resident gets the support they need. You'll also own our Housing Benefit compliance – completing applications, chasing lapsed claims, working with Birmingham City Council, and making sure our income is protected.
The two sides of this role are closely linked. Our HB income depends on quality support being delivered and documented. You're the person who makes sure both happen.
What you'll do
Support worker management:
● Manage and schedule a small team of support workers across our Birmingham properties
● Monitor that support visits are happening and session notes are completed on time
● Run regular one-to-ones, annual appraisals, and development plans
● Handle cover when staff are absent and be the first point of call when complex tenant situations arise
Housing Benefit and income:
● Own our Housing Benefit compliance across the portfolio -- chasing lapsed claims, resolving queries with BCC, and tracking payments
● Lead on Schedule of Exception Award (SEA) applications where required
● Liaise with our RSL partner and Birmingham City Council on HB matters
● Review HB tracking reports from our admin team and act on anything that needs escalation
General:
● Make sure every resident has a current, signed support plan
● Report monthly to the Operations Manager on support quality and income health
● Attend and contribute to weekly operational meetings

Desirable:
● Direct experience with BCC's exempt accommodation or HB team
● Experience with HB applications
● NVQ Level 3 or above in Housing, Health and Social Care, or similar
