Responsibilities
- Assist the Head Chef in managing daily kitchen operations, ensuring smooth workflow and efficiency
- Supervise and support kitchen staff, including cooks and food preparation teams, fostering a collaborative team environment
- Oversee food production, ensuring all dishes meet quality standards and are prepared in accordance with recipes and presentation guidelines
- Lead food preparation and cooking activities, maintaining consistency and excellence in all menu items
- Ensure compliance with food safety regulations and hygiene standards across the kitchen
- Manage inventory levels, order supplies, and minimise waste to optimise kitchen resources
- Support training programmes for new staff and ongoing development of team members
- Assist in menu planning and development, incorporating seasonal ingredients and innovative culinary techniques
- Serve as a role model for professionalism, hospitality, and customer service within the team
Qualifications
- Proven supervising experience within a busy restaurant or hospitality setting
- Extensive culinary experience with strong skills in food preparation and cooking techniques
- Demonstrable leadership abilities with experience managing a team in a fast-paced environment
- Knowledge of food safety standards and best practices in hygiene management
- Previous experience working in a restaurant or similar hospitality establishment is essential
- Excellent organisational skills with the ability to multitask effectively under pressure
- Strong communication skills to liaise effectively with team members and management
