Core summer hours of work 7.30am to 5pm. Monday - Friday
Every third Saturday morning 7.30 to 12.00pm
An unpaid tachograph/lunch break is to be taken as required by driving law
LOCATION: Newbury but expected to drive at any other depot as requested by management.
PAYMENT: Hourly paid at a rate No overtime rate is applicable. Payment is made monthly on the last working day of the month by BACS. For payment to be made you are required to complete a weekly time sheet which is signed by your manager.
ANNUAL LEAVE: 28 days including bank holidays per calendar year. When employment start part way through the year the holiday entitlement is taken prorate .

Rivar Sand and Gravel Limited have been supplying quality landscaping and building materials for over 25 years. The company currently has three branches in Newbury, Tadley and Hare Hatch and present turnover is £2.5 million. The company is a wholly owned subsidiary of Rivar Limited a company based in Newbury which specializes in residential developments.

General
Company staff uniform must be worn at all times and maintained in a clean condition.
You are in a customer-facing role and it is important you treat customers, colleagues and members of the public with respect.
Compliance with the company Drivers Handbook – supplied by the Road Haulage Association
All Health and Safety regulations must be complied with. If you believe any working practices are unsafe, you must report them to your line manager immediately.
Security of company products is everyone’s responsibility, and if you witness or suspect any theft, or damage, to company property you must inform your line manager immediately.
Duties
1.
Daily vehicle checks – check vehicle for safety and road worthiness. Any faults found to be reported to Manager.
2.
Comply with all safety regulations relevant to your vehicle operation i.e. load is totally secured, and any equipment used to unload a vehicle is correctly stowed.
3.
Ensure vehicle is loaded with correct materials according to the tickets allocated for that delivery.
4.
Supervise correct loading of vehicle before leaving the yard, report to sales office to release delivery ticket.
5.
Report all shortages and breakages.
6.
Endeavor to obtain signature for goods. Where not possible mark clearly on the tickets time of delivery and where goods left.
7.
Report all accidents and report damage to the vehicle, customer property and to any other third parties property.
8.
If you have to leave the highway, ensure the customer signs the disclaimer form.
9.
Do not unload your vehicle if by doing so you believe the action will be unsafe or you risk damaging property.
10.
If you have any problems on site, you must contact your branch using the phone provided.
11.
Ensure your phone is on at all times.
12.
Comply with all instructions given to you for the operation of the vehicle and all health and safety policies adopted by the company.
13.
When in the yard and have no driver responsibilities you would assume the responsibilities of the yard staff (see responsibilities below). This will especially be the case in quiet periods when you will be expected to help in the yard. This will involve operating machinery when trained to do so.
14.
Security of company products is everyone’s responsibility, and if you witness any theft, damage, to company property you must inform your line manager immediately.
15.
Do not collect materials from a customer site unless you have the relevant paperwork, or you have obtained permission from your branch by phone.
16.
It is illegal to move property that is not owned by Rivar Sand and Gravel Limited, so do not move customer's materials or property.
17.
Do not unload over your vehicles cab.
18.
It is your responsibility to keep your vehicle clean internally and externally at all times.
19.
Do not carry any unauthorized passengers in your cab.
20.
Report all incidents involving the Police, VOSA or any other Government Agency.
21.
Comply with all highway regulations.
22.
All drivers must take 45 minutes tachograph/lunch break.
23.
When making your daily deliveries you must follow the most economic route. Any deviation from that route may be viewed as a disciplinary offence.
Any other duties deemed appropriate by your Manager.
