Hoopers - a top end retail group of four department stores - are looking for a part time Payroll Officer based in our Torquay store. this is a permanent position. 65 hours per month over 2-3 days a week flexible.
Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated Payroll Officer to join our dynamic Finance team. In this vital role, you will be responsible for managing the end-to-end payroll process, ensuring employees are paid accurately and on time while maintaining compliance with relevant regulations. The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical skills, proficiency with payroll and accounting software, and a thorough understanding of human resources procedures. Responsibilities
- Process payroll accurately and efficiently using Sage Payroll and Excel365
- Maintain detailed records of employee hours, deductions, benefits, and other payroll-related data through data entry and verification
- Collaborate with human resources to update employee information and ensure compliance with company policies
- Manage accounts payable related to payroll, including vendor payments for benefits and tax authorities
- Reconcile payroll reports to ensure consistency and accuracy
- Prepare and submit required tax filings, social security contributions, and other statutory payments
- Prepare and submit required pension data according to strict deadlines and respond to queries quickly and accurately
- Analyze payroll data to identify discrepancies or errors, implementing corrective actions promptly
- Support internal audits by providing detailed payroll reports and documentation as needed
- Stay informed about changes in payroll laws, tax regulations, and human resources policies to ensure ongoing compliance
Qualifications
- Proven experience as a Payroll Officer or in a similar human resources or accounting role
- Proficiency with Sage Payroll and Sage HR is highly desirable
- Strong data entry skills with high attention to detail and accuracy
- Knowledge of accounting software and payroll processing procedures
- Excellent analysis skills to interpret complex data sets and resolve discrepancies efficiently
- Understanding of employment laws, tax regulations, and human resources best practices
- Effective communication skills to collaborate across departments and support staff inquiries
