Responsibilities
- Assist with meal preparation and food presentation, ensuring consistency and quality standards are met
- Support catering events by preparing ingredients and assembling dishes according to specifications
- Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the kitchen area, including washing dishes, utensils, and equipment
- Follow food safety procedures and hygiene standards at all times to ensure a safe working environment
- Serve food to customers or guests in a courteous and professional manner
- Assist with inventory management, including stock rotation and replenishment of supplies
- Collaborate with team members to ensure smooth kitchen operations during busy periods
- Clean kitchen equipment and utensils.
- Dispose of waste correctly. Report maintenance issues or damaged equipment.
- Assist with catering and event preparation when required.
- Prepare customer orders for dispatch.
- Ensure orders are packed correctly and securely.
- Assist with the preparation of ingredients including washing, peeling, chopping, and portioning. Prepare ingredients for Afri Aroma products including soups, rice meals, small chops, sauces, and frozen food products.
- Support batch cooking activities under supervision.
Requirements
- Previous experience in a restaurant, catering, or kitchen environment is highly desirable
- Knowledge of food preparation techniques and culinary practices
- Understanding of food safety regulations and hygiene standards
- Ability to work efficiently under pressure in a fast-paced setting
- Good organisational skills with attention to detail
- Flexibility to work various shifts, including weekends if required
- A positive attitude and willingness to learn new skills.
