This role requires driving and delivery.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver and collect goods using Class 1 (C+E) vehicles.
- Complete pre- and post-trip vehicle checks and promptly report any defects.
- Load and unload vehicles where required, following all site procedures and manual handling / safety instructions, and ensuring deliveries into client premises are carried out safely.
- Ensure all deliveries and collections are completed safely, compliantly and on time, respecting customers’ property and site rules; if in doubt about delivery safety, consult the customer and Transport Manager.
- Accurately complete all relevant paperwork, including checking goods with customers, obtaining signatures and using in-cab / POD systems as required.
- Work proactively in line with Health & Safety law, legal duty of care and company policies, including compliance with driver hours and Working Time Regulations.
Requirements
- Valid UK Class 1 (C+E) licence.
- Valid Driver CPC qualification.
- Valid digital tachograph card.
- Relevant Class 1 driving experience
- Reliable, professional and safety-focused approach to work.
Working Hours and Shifts
- Working time is based on a scheduled weekly rota, issued in advance.
- Minimum of 3 shifts per week (with the option for additional shifts where available), in line with rota-based patterns commonly used in UK HGV adverts.
- Each shift is typically between 8 and 10 hours, consistent with standard HGV daily driving limits (9 hours, extendable to 10 hours twice per week with appropriate breaks).
- Mixture of day and/or night shifts depending on business needs (you can specify if you prefer nights or a particular pattern).
Overnight Allowance
- Overnight / night-out allowance is paid for qualifying nights spent away from base, in line with typical UK lorry driver overnight allowances and HMRC guidance on subsistence and night-out payments.
Pay: £15.00-£17.00 per hour
