As one of Northampton's leading BMW specialists we are looking for a skilled and motivated Vehicle Technician to join our friendly team. We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Motor Vehicle Technician to join our family run business. The successful candidate will be responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining a variety of vehicles, ensuring they meet safety and quality standards. This role offers an excellent opportunity for individuals with a passion for automotive technology and hands-on work, providing valuable experience in vehicle systems and repair techniques.
Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive inspections of vehicles to identify mechanical issues using schematics and diagnostic tools.
- Perform repairs and maintenance on engines, transmissions, brakes, suspension, and other vehicle components.
- Utilise hand tools, power tools, and specialised equipment to disassemble, repair, and reassemble vehicle parts efficiently.
- Read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and assembly instructions to ensure accurate repairs.
- Carry out welding and equipment repair tasks as required to restore vehicle functionality.
- Assist with the assembly of vehicle parts during manufacturing or repair processes.
- Perform heavy lifting safely when handling large or heavy components during repairs or maintenance.
- Maintain detailed service records and ensure all work complies with safety regulations and quality standards.
- Provide excellent customer service by explaining repair procedures and addressing client concerns professionally.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in vehicle maintenance or repair is preferred.
- Strong mechanical knowledge with the ability to read schematics and technical diagrams.
- Proficiency in using hand tools, power tools, welding equipment, and diagnostic machinery.
- Knowledge of automotive systems including engines, transmissions, electrical systems, and hydraulics.
- Ability to perform heavy lifting safely and work efficiently in a physically demanding environment.
- Excellent problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
- Good communication skills to interact effectively with team members and customers.
- Relevant certifications or qualifications in automotive technology or mechanical engineering are required.
- Ideally NVQ level 3 or simualar.
