Your job role will be delivering parcels on behalf of DPD within Bradford and the surrounding areas.
Responsibilities
- Safely operate a van or light commercial vehicle to complete multiple deliveries throughout your designated route
- Load and unload packages, often involving heavy lifting, ensuring items are handled with care and secured properly for transit
- Follow planned delivery schedules, which include remaining within a 1 hour window per delivery, navigating efficiently using GPS or route maps to meet deadlines
- Communicate clearly with dispatchers, customers, and team members to confirm delivery details or resolve issues promptly
- Conduct vehicle safety checks before each shift, reporting any maintenance needs or safety concerns
- Maintain accurate delivery logs, receipts, and documentation for all completed deliveries
- Uphold safety standards and traffic laws at all times, promoting a safe working environment for yourself and others
- Have a good working up to date phone with the latest software to run the delivery app easily and hassle free
Skills
- Proven experience as a delivery driver or in a similar role involving commercial driving and multi-drop deliveries
- Valid driver’s license with a maximum of 6 points; experience driving vans or light commercial vehicles preferred
- Strong communication skills to interact professionally with customers and team members
- Ability to perform physical tasks including heavy lifting and manual handling throughout the shift
- Warehouse experience is advantageous for understanding inventory handling and storage procedures
- Knowledge of local routes, traffic patterns, and navigation tools to optimize delivery efficiency
- Reliable, punctual, and committed to providing excellent customer service at every stop
