About Us
Quality Part X Ltd is a busy, well-established used car dealership with a large and fast-moving stock profile. We pride ourselves on presenting our vehicles to a high retail standard and delivering an excellent customer experience.
We are looking for an experienced and organised Vehicle Preparation Supervisor to take ownership of the preparation process at our Dunstable branch.
This is not a mechanic’s role. Instead, you will oversee the entire preparation journey of our vehicles, ensuring they move efficiently through workshop, bodyshop and cosmetic preparation before being advertised or delivered to customers.
The Role
You will be responsible for managing the day-to-day preparation of our vehicle stock, working closely with Sales Executives, Sales Managers, the Workshop, Bodyshop and Parts Department to ensure every vehicle reaches our retail standards as quickly and efficiently as possible.
The successful candidate will take ownership of vehicle preparation, minimise stock ageing, identify delays and ensure sold vehicles are ready for collection on time.
Key Responsibilities
* Manage and oversee the preparation of all used vehicle stock.
* Monitor the progress of every vehicle from arrival through to retail display and customer delivery.
* Liaise daily with Sales Executives, Sales Managers, Workshop and Bodyshop teams.
* Coordinate cosmetic repairs, paintwork, SMART repairs and bodyshop work.
* Arrange replacement trims, accessories and missing parts where required.
* Ensure vehicles meet the dealership’s retail presentation standards before being advertised or delivered.
* Prioritise sold vehicles to ensure they are prepared in time for customer handover.
* Chase outstanding repairs, parts, bodyshop work and supplier delays to keep stock moving.
* Maintain accurate records of vehicle preparation and outstanding work.
* Carry out quality checks before vehicles are released for sale or collection.
* Escalate issues or delays to management together with practical solutions.
What We’re Looking For
* Previous experience within the motor trade is essential.
* Experience in a dealership preparation, workshop control, service advisor or vehicle logistics role would be advantageous.
* Excellent organisational and communication skills.
* Strong attention to detail.
* Ability to prioritise a busy workload and work under pressure.
* A proactive approach with excellent problem-solving skills.
* Good IT and administrative skills.
* Full UK driving licence preferred.
What We Offer
* Competitive salary (depending on experience).
* Full-time, permanent position.
* Friendly and supportive working environment.
* Opportunity to develop within a growing dealership.
* A varied and fast-paced role where no two days are the same.
If you have dealership experience, enjoy coordinating people and processes, and take pride in ensuring vehicles are presented to the highest retail standard, we’d love to hear from you.
Working Hours
- 5–6 days per week (flexible depending on candidate)
Salary & Benefits
* Starting salary from £36,000 + per annum.
* Excellent earning potential with additional performance-related bonuses based on achieving key preparation targets and maintaining efficient stock turnaround.
* Full-time, permanent position.
* Opportunity to develop within a growing dealership.
* Supportive and professional working environment.
