Help Transform Cancer Care for LGBTQIA+ Communities
Cancer doesn't affect everyone equally.
Too many LGBTQIA+ people experience barriers to diagnosis, treatment and support. They tell us about being misgendered, having chosen families overlooked, delaying appointments because they fear discrimination, and feeling invisible within healthcare.
We believe this can change.
We're looking for an exceptional person to lead an exciting new project that will improve cancer experiences for LGBTQIA+ people across Berkshire. This is an opportunity to influence not only individual lives but also the way local cancer services are designed and delivered.
You'll help establish a lived experience forum, build a library of real stories that can influence professional practice, and work alongside healthcare professionals and community members to develop more inclusive cancer pathways.
If you're passionate about reducing health inequalities, empowering communities and creating lasting change, we'd love to hear from you.
We're Looking For Someone Who:
- Is passionate about tackling health inequalities.
- Has experience supporting vulnerable people.
- Understands the experiences and diversity of LGBTQIA+ communities.
- Is an excellent communicator who can build trust with people from all backgrounds.
- Can work confidently with NHS partners and community organisations.
- Is organised, self-motivated and able to manage a varied workload.
- Believes that people with lived experience should shape the services designed to support them.
You don't need to have worked in cancer services before. We recognise that valuable experience comes from many different backgrounds, including health, social care, community development, advocacy and the voluntary sector. You will need a valid driving licence and car for this role.
