For more than forty years, we’ve delivered safe, reliable and imaginative engineering solutions for major attractions across the globe.
We are seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer with mechanical industry experience to join our growing design team. This role is ideal for an engineer who has already built a solid foundation in mechanical design and now wants to take ownership of complex assemblies, contribute to full project lifecycles, and work on technically demanding, safety‑critical systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Contribute to the mechanical design of ride systems, gating systems and specialist attraction equipment from concept through to production release.
- Develop detailed 3D CAD models, assemblies and manufacturing drawings to high‑precision standards (SolidWorks preferred).
- Apply engineering calculations, tolerance analysis and design-for-manufacture principles to ensure robust, safe and compliant designs.
- Work closely with fabrication, machining, electrical and installation teams to ensure seamless integration and build quality.
- Support prototype development, testing and validation within our on‑site facilities.
- Contribute to design reviews, risk assessments and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Provide technical input to refurbishment and upgrade projects for existing ride systems.
- Liaise with project team and clients to translate creative concepts into engineered solutions.
About You
- 4+ years’ experience in mechanical design, ideally within machinery, automation, special-purpose equipment, or other safety‑critical systems.
- Strong proficiency in SolidWorks or equivalent 3D CAD software.
- Confident producing detailed manufacturing drawings and BOMs.
- Good understanding of fabrication, machining, welding and assembly processes.
- Experience working with complex mechanical assemblies, motion systems or hydraulics/pneumatics is highly advantageous.
- Practical, hands‑on approach with strong problem‑solving capability.
- Comfortable working independently on design tasks while collaborating effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to engage with internal teams and external stakeholders.
Why Garmendale
- Work on globally recognised ride systems for major theme parks and attractions.
- Join a company with a reputation for engineering excellence, rigorous safety standards, and high‑quality manufacturing.
- Be part of a collaborative, skilled engineering team where your designs directly shape real‑world attractions.
- Enjoy a varied role spanning new product development, bespoke engineering, installation support and lifecycle improvements.
- Opportunities for professional growth as we expand our design and engineering capability.
