E-Commerce Product Listing & Quality Control Operative
Location: Birmingham / West Midlands
Job Type: Full-Time, Permanent
Company: LTR
About Us
LTR is Birmingham’s largest textile collection company, dedicated to sustainability and giving second-hand goods a new life.
As our online sales operation continues to grow, we are looking for a computer-confident, organised and detail-focused person to join our team and help process products for sale across our online marketplaces.
This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys working on a computer, using software and systems, and working with products. You don't need to be a computer expert, but you should be comfortable using a computer for most of the working day and enjoy learning new software.
The Role
The role combines computer-based product listing with product quality control.
A large part of your day will be spent using our software and computer systems to scan, identify, research, record and list products for sale online.
You will work with a wide range of second-hand and new products, making sure that information is accurate and that items are correctly processed before being made available to customers.
This would suit someone who enjoys working independently at a computer, is naturally organised, has good attention to detail and likes repetitive but structured tasks.
You will receive full training on our systems and software.
Key Responsibilities
- Use computer software and e-commerce systems to process products for online sale.
- Scan products and enter or verify product information.
- Create and prepare accurate online product listings.
- Research products where required to identify the correct product, brand, model or edition.
- Check product condition and ensure the correct condition is recorded.
- Categorise products correctly within our systems.
- Review product information for errors, missing information or inconsistencies.
- Match products with existing online catalogues and listings where appropriate.
- Use scanners, computers and other technology to process stock efficiently.
- Prepare products for photography and online listing.
- Ensure products are correctly labelled and stored after processing.
- Keep accurate records of stock and product movements.
- Identify damaged, incomplete or unsuitable products and report them appropriately.
- Help improve the accuracy and efficiency of our online listing processes.
- Work towards daily productivity and accuracy targets.
- Carry out occasional warehouse and stock-handling duties when required.
What We're Looking For
We are particularly interested in people who:
- Enjoy working on a computer and are happy spending much of the day using one.
- Are confident learning and using new software and computer systems.
- Have excellent attention to detail.
- Are comfortable working with spreadsheets, databases, websites or online platforms.
- Can follow processes accurately and consistently.
- Are organised and able to manage a large number of products.
- Can work independently without needing constant supervision.
- Are comfortable carrying out repetitive computer-based tasks while maintaining accuracy.
- Have good written and basic numerical skills.
- Are reliable, punctual and motivated.
- Enjoy learning how different products are identified, categorised and sold online.
Experience
Previous experience is not essential if you are confident using computers and have the right attitude.
Experience in any of the following would be an advantage:
- E-commerce
- Online product listing
- Amazon, eBay or other online marketplaces
- Stock control or inventory systems
- Data entry
- Administration
- Retail
- Product research
- Quality control
- Warehouse stock processing
- Using spreadsheets or databases
Experience with e-commerce software is particularly desirable, but full training will be provided.
What the Working Day Is Like
This is not a traditional warehouse role.
You will spend a significant proportion of your working day using a computer and our product-listing software, processing products and making sure they are accurately prepared for online sale.
The role will involve a mixture of:
Computer & Software Work → Product Research → Data Entry → Quality Checking → Scanning → Product Processing → Stock Organisation
There will be some movement around the warehouse and occasional manual handling, but the main focus of the role is accurate product processing and online listing.
Desirable Skills
- Previous experience with Amazon, eBay or other marketplaces.
- Experience creating online product listings.
- Good knowledge of Microsoft Excel or Google Sheets.
- Experience with inventory or stock management software.
- Good general computer skills.
- Interest in books, clothing, footwear, electronics or second-hand products.
- Forklift licence or warehouse equipment experience is a bonus but not required.
Benefits
- Competitive salary
- Performance bonus opportunities
- Optional overtime
- Full training provided
- Ongoing training and career development
- Company pension scheme
- Casual dress code
- Employee access to second-hand goods
- Language training provided
- Supportive and environmentally conscious workplace
- Opportunity to develop skills in e-commerce and online retail
Who This Job Would Suit
This role could be particularly well suited to someone who has worked in:
- E-commerce
- Online retail
- Data entry
- Administration
- Customer service
- Stock control
- Marketplace selling
- Computer-based processing
- Retail operations
It would also suit someone who simply likes working with computers and wants a job where they can use a computer and software for a large part of the working day, rather than being on their feet doing physical warehouse work all day.
If you are computer-confident, organised, accurate and interested in how products are sold online, we'd love to hear from you.
