Job Overview
We are seeking a proactive and dependable Cleaner / Deliveries Assistant to join our dynamic team. This role offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to maintaining a clean, safe environment while supporting efficient delivery operations. You will be responsible for performing thorough cleaning tasks across an independent [live music led] traditional public house, and assisting with the safe and timely delivery of goods. This position is vital in ensuring our workspace remains hygienic, organised, and welcoming, while also supporting our logistics processes to meet operational goals. Fixed days: Monday, Wednesday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday (flexibility to cover holidays would be an advantage).
Responsibilities
- Carry out comprehensive cleaning duties across front of house, yard and frontage areas using appropriate cleaning equipment and supplies.
- Maintain high standards of cleanliness by dusting, mopping, vacuuming, sanitising surfaces, and waste disposal.
- Responsible for accepting all inward food and drink deliveries safely within the premises [when on duty], ensuring the correct storage of chilled goods. Due to the nature of these premises, these goods are largely delivered down a shoot into a cellar, some lifting would be required on occasion.
- Ensure all delivered items are checked against delivery notes and chilled goods stored correctly in designated areas.
- Support the organisation of stock and supplies to facilitate smooth daily operations.
- Follow health and safety procedures diligently during cleaning and delivery activities to prevent accidents or injuries.
- Report any maintenance issues or safety hazards promptly to management for swift resolution.
Skills
- Proven experience in pub/restaurant commercial cleaning or janitorial roles with a strong attention to detail preferred.
- Ability to operate cleaning machinery such as floor scrubbers, vacuums, and buffers effectively.
- Good physical stamina for standing, bending, lifting, and moving items throughout shifts.
- Strong organisational skills to manage multiple tasks efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent communication skills for coordinating with team members and reporting issues clearly.
- An ability to work alone early morning before being joined by colleagues.
- Knowledge of health and safety regulations related to cleaning and handling deliveries would be preferred, but full training can be provided.
- Reliability absolutely essential.
