Transport Planner

An established and growing logistics business based in the West Midlands is seeking an experienced Transport Planner to join its operations team.
This is a fast-paced role suited to someone who can work under pressure, manage multiple priorities, and maintain excellent service levels across daily transport operations.
Key Responsibilities

Planning and coordinating UK transport operations

Managing driver routes, schedules, and vehicle utilisation

Monitoring deliveries and resolving operational issues proactively

Communicating with drivers, customers, and warehouse teams

Ensuring compliance with transport legislation and company procedures

Supporting same-day, groupage, and time-critical deliveries

Maintaining accurate operational records and transport documentation

Assisting with weekend operational cover on a rota basis
Requirements

Previous experience in a transport planning or logistics coordination role

Strong geographical knowledge of the UK

Ability to work effectively in a busy and reactive environment

Excellent communication and problem-solving skills

Confident using transport management systems and Microsoft Office

Flexible approach to working hours

Knowledge of ADR, temperature-controlled, or European logistics would be advantageous but not essential
