About the Role
We are currently seeking a dedicated and experienced SEN Specialist to join a specialist provision within a mainstream school in Corby from September 2026. This is a full-time, ongoing opportunity supporting children and young people with SEMH.
The successful candidate will play a key role in creating a safe, nurturing, and engaging learning environment, helping pupils overcome barriers to learning and achieve positive outcomes both academically and personally.
Key Responsibilities
- Support pupils with SEMH needs within the specialist provision.
- Cover the provision in the class teacher's absence
- Build positive relationships that promote engagement, confidence, and emotional wellbeing.
- Deliver tailored interventions and support strategies to meet individual needs.
- Support behaviour management using a consistent, trauma-informed approach.
- Work collaboratively with teaching staff, SENCOs, pastoral teams, parents, and external professionals.
- Encourage the development of social skills, emotional regulation, and resilience.
- Monitor and record pupil progress and contribute to support plans and reviews.
Requirements
- Previous experience working with children or young people with SEMH needs.
- Strong behaviour management and de-escalation skills.
- Understanding of SEND and inclusive educational practices.
- Ability to build positive, professional relationships with pupils and colleagues.
- Patient, resilient, and adaptable approach.
- Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
Desirable
- Relevant qualification in Education, SEN, Youth Work, Psychology, Social Care, or a related field.
- Experience within a specialist provision, alternative provision, or SEND setting.
- Knowledge of trauma-informed practice, restorative approaches, and EHCPs.
