We're looking for a Director of Finance to be the most senior finance hire at Mercury13, the group building a portfolio of professional women's football clubs across Europe. You'll own financial planning and analysis across a multi-currency, multi-country group that's still early in its journey. Reporting to the group CEO, you'll build the reporting foundations at each club, then use them to run financial planning that leadership and our investors can trust. This is a builder's role, not a caretaker's.
We'd love to hear from you if:
You have significant experience in finance, and in senior leadership roles
You have deep expertise in FP&A, financial modeling, reporting, and accounting standards
You've built financial structure in complex, high-growth, multi-entity and multi-currency businesses, creating the systems where none existed
You hold a finance or accounting degree or equivalent experience, ideally with a professional qualification (CPA, ACA, ACCA or similar)
You've owned investor reporting and managed investor relationships, ideally in a PE-backed or institutionally-funded business
You're hands-on and happiest solving problems yourself rather than overseeing others
You're obsessed with efficiency and love finding better, more automated ways to work
You take full ownership and build trust quickly with people across different countries
What you can expect to be involved in
Reviewing finance across every club and HoldCo, then rebuilding it to a consistent, reliable standard
Setting and enforcing the reporting standards the whole group runs on, working with each club's finance lead
Building and running budgeting and forecasting across the group, and holding clubs to their budgets
Choosing and setting up the tools, people, and processes that make up a modern, lean finance function
Owning investor reporting and building the investor relations strategy for a PE-backed group
Partnering with the Board and CEO as the finance voice on strategic decisions
Safeguarding
Mercury13 is committed to safeguarding and ensuring the welfare and protection of children and vulnerable people and expects all staff to share this commitment. As such, the post holder will be subject to any relevant security checks as required.
