Hours: 1 day per week (9:00am – 6:00pm, including 30-minute unpaid lunch break)

About the Role
Norton Fitzwarren Pharmacy is seeking a qualified and experienced Accuracy Checking Technician (ACT) to support our growing pharmacy services, with an initial focus on checking Multi-Compartment Compliance Aids (MDS/Blister Packs).
This is an excellent opportunity for an ACT looking for flexible, self-employed work within a friendly and progressive independent pharmacy. The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring the safe and accurate supply of medicines to patients while supporting the pharmacy team as the business continues to grow.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform final accuracy checks on Multi-Compartment Compliance Aids (MDS/Blister Packs) in accordance with SOPs and professional standards.
- Ensure all prescriptions, supporting documentation, and assembled packs are accurate before supply.
- Identify and escalate dispensing errors, discrepancies, or clinical concerns to the Responsible Pharmacist.
- Maintain accurate records of checking activities.
- Support the pharmacy team in maintaining efficient workflow and patient safety standards.
- Assist with process improvements relating to MDS preparation and checking.
- Ensure all work complies with GPhC standards, NHS requirements, and pharmacy SOPs.
Essential Requirements
- Qualified Accuracy Checking Technician (ACT).
- Registered Pharmacy Technician with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC).
- Previous experience checking MDS/Blister Packs.
- Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills.
- Ability to work independently and efficiently.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- Professional indemnity insurance appropriate for self-employed practice.
Desirable Requirements
- Experience working within a community pharmacy setting.
- Familiarity with Titan PMR or similar pharmacy systems.
- Experience supporting care home or monitored dosage system services.
Future Opportunities
This position initially offers one day per week (9am–6pm); however, we anticipate growth in our wider pharmacy operations. As prescription volumes increase, there is significant potential for additional regular sessions and increased hours for the right candidate.
