About the Role
Are you looking for a rewarding role where you can make a genuine difference every single day?
At Crookhey Hall School, we're looking for a caring, enthusiastic and resilient Learning Support Assistant to join our friendly team on a maternity cover contract. Whether you're already working in education or have experience in care, youth work or supporting young people, this is a fantastic opportunity to build a rewarding career in specialist education.
As a Learning Support Assistant, you'll be much more than classroom support. You'll become a trusted role model, helping pupils build confidence, develop independence and celebrate achievements—big and small. Every day brings new opportunities to encourage, inspire and make a lasting impact.
Working alongside experienced teachers, therapists and a dedicated multidisciplinary team, you'll help create a safe, nurturing and engaging environment where every child can thrive.
What you’ll do:
- Support pupils on a one-to-one basis, in small groups and within the classroom to help them access learning and achieve their individual goals.
- Work alongside teachers to deliver engaging, personalised learning experiences.
- Encourage pupils' confidence, communication, independence and emotional wellbeing.
- Build positive, trusting relationships that help pupils feel safe, valued and ready to learn.
- Prepare learning resources and support a creative, inclusive classroom environment.
- Monitor and celebrate pupil progress, contributing to individual learning plans where appropriate.
- Support educational visits and, where required, transport pupils to enhance learning opportunities.
- Work collaboratively with teachers, therapists and families to achieve the best outcomes for every pupil.
- Safeguard and promote the welfare of all children and young people.
What we’re looking for:
We're looking for someone who:
- Is passionate about helping children and young people achieve their potential.
- Is caring, patient and resilient, with a positive and nurturing approach.
- Enjoys building positive relationships and working as part of a supportive team.
- Is adaptable, proactive and able to respond to individual pupil needs.
- Holds GCSE English and Maths (Grade C/4 or equivalent).
- Holds a Full UK Driving Licence.
Experience working with children or young people is desirable, but not essential. If you have transferable skills from education, care, youth work, residential care, coaching or support work and a genuine passion for making a difference, we'll provide the training and support you need to succeed.
