The Role: Residential Support Worker
As a Residential Support Worker, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality care and creating positive experiences for the children and young people we support.
You will work as part of a dedicated residential childcare team, helping to create a safe, stable and nurturing home environment where children and young people can feel secure, supported and able to thrive.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Providing high-quality therapeutic care and support within a residential children's home.
- Building positive, trusting and consistent relationships with children and young people.
- Acting as a consistent role model, promoting positive behaviour and emotional wellbeing.
- Supporting children and young people with daily routines, education, hobbies and social activities.
- Encouraging independence, life skills and personal development.
- Working collaboratively with colleagues to deliver consistent, child-centred care.
- Maintaining accurate records and contributing to care planning and safeguarding practices.
- Helping to create a safe, stable and nurturing home environment where every child can thrive.
About You
We are looking for someone who is committed, resilient and passionate about improving the lives of children and young people.
You may already have experience working in residential childcare, children's homes, social care, care work or a similar support setting, although previous experience is preferred but not essential.
You'll ideally have:
- Experience working in Residential Childcare or a similar support setting (preferred but not essential).
- A caring, positive and proactive approach.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- A genuine commitment to therapeutic, trauma-informed and child-centred care.
- A sound understanding of safeguarding and children's wellbeing.
- The ability to remain calm under pressure and build positive relationships.
- Flexibility to work a rota including evenings, weekends and sleep-in shifts where required.
