To lead the Council’s active travel programme supporting the identification, initial development and promotion of new infrastructure within the Local Cycling and Walking Infrastructure Plan.
Provide leadership in strategy and policy development for active travel, manage the Council’s road safety education and travel planning activity and deliver engagement with key local, regional and national stakeholders.
The postholder will monitor and evaluate the success of the Council’s activity across a range active travel functions and will have need to work closely with officers at the Cheshire and Warrington Combined Authority.

Cheshire West and Chester is looking for an enthusiastic and committed person to join the Transport and Infrastructure team. The successful candidate will join the Council at an exciting time, making a meaningful contribution to the necessary change required to fulfil, contribute and realise the aims of our Local Transport Plan revision, forthcoming Local Cycling and Walking Infrastructure Plan renewal and Bus Service Improvement Plan delivery.
We are looking for a highly organised, proactive and solutions focused Active Travel Lead, who will be responsible for the management of a small team, developing and support the delivery of a programme of road safety education, smarter choices, active travel and travel planning activities initiatives.
You should have excellent written and verbal communication skills, experience of working in a transport or sustainability related environment. Understanding the critical role of transport in underpinning accessibility, sustainability, health and wellbeing for our residents, businesses and visitors. You must be computer literate with a good working knowledge of Microsoft packages, self-motivated with a flexible approach to work, able to represent the service/council to a variety of internal and external audiences. You will be required to work collaboratively across departments ensuring high standards of service are provided.
