Kenect Recruitment is delighted to be recruiting for an experienced On-Site Transport Manager on behalf of a leading organisation within the textile and logistics sector based in Belfast.
This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated transport professional to take ownership of a busy transport department, leading daily operations while driving efficiency, compliance, and continuous improvement. Reporting directly to the Logistics Manager, you'll play a key role in ensuring the smooth running of transport operations and maintaining the highest standards of safety and service.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the day-to-day operation and overall efficiency of the Transport Department.
- Provide operational support and strategic input to the Logistics Manager.
- Lead, motivate and manage a team of drivers, including scheduling, rotas, holidays and performance management.
- Coordinate driver recruitment and onboarding in partnership with HR.
- Deliver coaching, training and manage performance or disciplinary matters in line with company policies.
- Ensure all fleet vehicles are maintained to the highest standards of cleanliness, safety and legal compliance.
- Manage relationships with fleet maintenance providers and monitor service performance.
- Ensure full compliance with all UK transport legislation, including VOSA and Ministry of Transport regulations.
- Review and optimise daily transport routes to maximise efficiency and service levels.
- Promote safe working practices, ensuring compliance with health and safety procedures and manual handling requirements.
- Assist in monitoring transport budgets and departmental costs.
- Maintain confidentiality when handling company and employee information.
About You
We're looking for someone who has:
- Previous experience in a Transport Manager or Logistics Management role.
- Strong knowledge of UK transport legislation and compliance requirements, including VOSA regulations.
- Experience managing drivers, transport planning and fleet operations.
- Excellent leadership and people management skills.
- Strong organisational and problem-solving abilities.
- The ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing priorities.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to work effectively across departments.
- A full, clean UK driving licence.
