An exciting opportunity has arisen for a full time, permanent, Band 8a Team Leader Highly Specialist Dietitian within the Feeding and Eating Disorder Service (FEDS) at the world-famous Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children, NHS Foundation Trust. Our FEDS service is a national centre for patients requiring multi-disciplinary assessment and treatment for the management of complex feeding and eating disorders. This includes covering both the inpatient unit and attending MDT outpatient assessments, providing expert dietetic input to treatment plans and leading on dietetic led outpatient clinical assessments. You will lead a team of Highly Specialist Dietitians and Rotational Dietitians to develop a world-class expert service. You will have the opportunity to work as part of a large and supportive MDT
Team and have the opportunity to develop audit, outcomes and clinical service evaluation to improve practice. Opportunities will include teaching and representing the service at a national and international level. We are looking for a dynamic individual with significant previous experience working with children with feeding and eating disorders alongside experience of leading a team.
Leading a comprehensive and quality dietetic service for outpatients working to agreed standards, policies and procedures
Providing expert practice in the provision of dietetic input for feeding and eating disorders
To provide expert advice to patients, carers and clinical staff regarding the nutritional adequacy of the diets of children attending the FEDS service. This may include advising on consideration of enteral feeding and/or use of nutritional supplements.
Ensuring a consistent and reliable service for all children through assessment of the patients’ needs and making clinical decisions regarding the necessary nutritional support and dietary interventions for all children with feeding and eating disorders their diet history, growth and biochemical parameters and in conjunction with the
MDT. This includes assessment and management of refeeding risk
Development and updating of diet sheets and other educational resources for patients and healthcare professionals both within and outside the Trust
Leading and organising the training and support of specialist dietitians in all aspects of nutritional management in the highly complex field of specialist diet therapy other dietitians in the team Freedom to act interpreting the Health and Care Professions Council code of conduct and working to all agreed standards, policies and procedures within the department and the Trust
