Help shape the next generation of care professionals
Every confident care professional has had someone who helped them take the next step.
Someone who coached them through the challenging moments. Someone who helped them turn workplace experience into evidence, knowledge into confidence, and potential into real career progression.
That is where you come in.
At TLC – The Training & Learning Company, we are looking for an experienced Health & Social Care Apprenticeship Assessor / Learning Coach / Skills Coach to support apprentices across Wiltshire and the surrounding areas. So you could also be based in e.g. Bristol, Bath, Chippenham, Swindon, Cheltenham, Gloucester, Stroud, Cirencester, Faringdon, Burford, Witney, etc.
This is a role for someone who already understands the apprenticeship world. You know how to manage a caseload, support learners in the workplace, work with employers, drive timely achievement and maintain high standards of quality and compliance.
But you are not looking for a box-ticking role.
You are looking for somewhere you can coach properly, build strong relationships, make a real difference to learners and be part of a team that genuinely cares about quality.
A quick but important note before you apply
This is an experienced assessor role, so please make sure you meet the essential requirements before applying.
To be considered for this role, you must already have:
- An Assessor qualification, such as TAQA, A1, D32/D33 or equivalent
- Proven experience assessing apprenticeships
- A Level 5 qualification in Health & Social Care, an equivalent qualification, or previous experience as a Registered Manager
This is not a trainee assessor role, and we are not able to consider applicants who do not meet the essential criteria above.
The role
As a Health & Social Care Apprenticeship Assessor at TLC, you will manage a caseload of learners from Level 2 through to Level 5, supporting them at different stages of their care careers.
You will work with apprentices who are developing their skills, confidence and professional behaviours within real Health and Social Care settings. Some will be early in their career. Others will be progressing into senior, lead or management-level roles.
Your job is to help them move forward.
You will spend three to four days each week in the field, meeting learners face-to-face in their workplace, with one to two days working from home for planning, reviews, administration and learner support.
This is a role that combines coaching, assessment, mentoring, quality and relationship-building. You will be trusted to manage your own diary, keep your caseload moving and deliver a strong learner experience.
Your role will include:
- Delivering monthly coaching, assessment and review sessions in the workplace
- Supporting Health & Social Care apprentices from Level 2 to Level 5
- Helping learners build high-quality evidence against apprenticeship standards
- Coaching learners to develop confidence, competence and professional behaviours
- Supporting learners to stay on track and achieve in a timely manner
- Building strong relationships with employers, managers and workplace mentors
- Managing your own diary, travel, caseload and learner progress
- Maintaining accurate records in line with apprenticeship and compliance requirements
- Working towards clear quality, performance and learner achievement targets
- Representing TLC professionally when working with learners, employers and external partners
You will usually travel within a two-hour radius of your home, so you will need to be comfortable with regular field-based work.
What you will need
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- An Assessor qualification, such as TAQA, A1, D32/D33 or equivalent
- Proven experience assessing apprenticeships
- Experience supporting learners across Health & Social Care apprenticeship standards
- Experience supporting learners from Level 2 through to Level 5
- A Level 5 qualification in Health & Social Care, an equivalent qualification, or previous experience as a Registered Manager
- Strong occupational competence within Health & Social Care
- Experience delivering face-to-face assessments in the workplace
- Strong caseload management and organisational skills
- Confidence working with employers, managers and workplace mentors
- Good IT, administration and communication skills
- A full UK driving licence and willingness to travel
- Willingness to complete an Enhanced DBS check
You do not need to be the loudest person in the room. But you do need to be confident, professional, reliable and able to build trust with learners and employers.
The type of assessor who thrives here
You will probably enjoy this role if you care about doing things properly.
You take pride in learner progress. You understand that quality matters. You know that a well-supported apprentice is more likely to stay engaged, achieve and grow in confidence.
You are organised enough to manage a busy caseload, but human enough to remember that every learner is different.
You can support, encourage and motivate. You can also challenge when needed. You are comfortable having honest conversations, keeping learners accountable and helping them understand what they need to do next.
Most importantly, you believe assessment should be more than a checklist.
It should help people grow.
Why join TLC?
At TLC, we believe that when our people are supported, our learners get the best experience.
You will be joining an ambitious, quality-focused team where your experience will be valued and your development will be encouraged.
