Overview
We are seeking a motivated and reliable Part Time General Kitchen Assistant/Kitchen Porter to support our Kitchen team.
This role is ideal for individuals passionate about food and eager to gain experience in a busy kitchen environment, for those getting into the Food trade or for a College student looking to learn on the job whilst studying. We are looking for candidates aged 17 and over for this role.
The successful candidate will contribute to meal preparation, food safety, and maintaining a clean and organised workspace. Previous catering, cooking, or restaurant experience is desirable but not essential, as training will be provided.
Duties
- Maintain cleanliness of kitchen surfaces, utensils, and equipment to ensure food safety compliance
- Organise and restock supplies as needed to ensure smooth kitchen operations
- Follow health and safety guidelines at all times, including proper handling of food and cleaning procedures
- Assist with food preparation and meal assembly in accordance with kitchen standards (once trained)
- Support the cooking process by preparing ingredients and basic dishes under supervision (once trained)
- Support the team during busy service periods by performing various tasks as directed
Requirements
- Previous experience in catering, cooking, or a restaurant environment is advantageous but not mandatory
- Basic knowledge of food safety standards and hygiene practices
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail
- Good organisational skills with the ability to prioritise tasks effectively
- Willingness to learn new skills related to food preparation and kitchen operations
- Flexibility to work shifts as required, including weekends or evenings if necessary
- A positive attitude and strong team spirit are essential for success in this role
Rate of pay is dependant on age & will be discussed on successful completion of Trial Shift
