Self-Employed School Meals Delivery Driver

Platebox is the leading provider of school meals transport across Derbyshire and is currently looking for reliable self-employed drivers to join our team.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking for part-time, term-time work that fits around other commitments.
About the Role
You will be responsible for collecting insulated school meal containers from a designated production kitchen or school and delivering them to another school. After the lunch service, you will return to collect the empty containers and transport them back to the collection point.
As part of the role, you will be required to:
- Load and unload insulated food containers from your own vehicle.
- Safely transport school meals between sites.
- Collect and return empty meal containers after lunchtime service.
- Complete deliveries in accordance with the scheduled times.
- Maintain a professional and courteous manner when dealing with schools and catering staff.
Essential Requirements
- Full UK Driving Licence.
- Estate car or large SUV (saloon vehicles are not suitable due to the size of the insulated boxes).
- Good communication and customer service skills.
- Physically fit and able to safely lift and carry insulated meal containers.
- Successful completion of a Criminal Record (DBS) check.
- Available to work the full 190 school days each academic year.
Hours
- Approximately 2 hours per day.
- Between 11:00 am and 1:00 pm (times may vary slightly depending on the route).
- Monday to Friday during school term time only.
- No weekend work.
Pay
- £12.71 per hour
- 55p per mile paid for mileage travelled between collection and delivery sites.
- Self-employed position.
