REST is an advisory service committed to raising standards of inclusive practice across the Isle of Wight. We work alongside schools supporting leaders and staff to identify unmet need, implement evidence-informed strategies and deliver measurable improvements in attendance, engagement and learning outcomes.
We are seeking a dedicated Specialist Advisory Teacher to join our REST team, working across primary schools (including transition into Year 7) to support staff to understand children’s needs, respond effectively and build environments where children feel safe, engaged and ready to learn.
You will work in partnership with school leaders, teachers and support staff, providing specialist advice, modelling effective strategies and coaching colleagues to develop inclusive practice. You will lead consultations, facilitate action plans and review processes to ensure schools implement sustainable approaches that strengthen emotional regulation and improve outcomes for children.
Through your work with schools, families and multi-agency partners, you will help ensure that early intervention is prioritised, exclusions are minimised and every child is supported to thrive within an appropriate educational setting.
You will need:
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and substantial experience teaching in a primary setting.
- Experience of multi-disciplinary and partnership working and awareness of the issues involved. Experience of chairing meetings and leading working groups.
- Excellent planning and organisational skills to manage a complex multiple workloads, prioritise and set deadlines and cope with conflicting and changing demands.
- Expert knowledge of the specialist work area and relevant legislation, regulations, processes, systems, procedures and standards. Wide reaching knowledge of other areas of the authority relevant to the service and of wider sector / external influences.
- A full driving licence and access to a vehicle.
