Centre Assistant – Acorn Youth Community & Sports Centre
For over 60 years, The Acorn Youth Community & Sports Centre has been a dedicated space for young people and the wider community. Originally established as a youth club, we have grown into a vibrant, multi‑purpose community hub offering youth clubs, parent & toddler groups, social sporting activities, an onsite café, a thriving community garden, and room hire for external groups, birthday parties, classes, and private events.

About the Role
We are seeking a proactive, friendly, and community‑minded Centre Assistant to join our team. This is a 25‑hour per week paid position, with hours to be agreed. Shifts will include weekends, lone working, and cover during our opening hours (9am–10pm Monday to Friday, 9am–5pm weekends).
This is a varied, hands‑on role supporting all aspects of centre operations. You will often be the first point of contact for visitors, helping create a warm, positive experience from the moment they arrive.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Greeting visitors warmly and providing excellent customer service
- Serving customers in the onsite café
- Setting up rooms for groups, hires, parties, and events
- Managing daily operations, including booking schedules
- Handling enquiries by phone and email, offering clear and accurate information
- Maintaining records of bookings, attendance, and other administrative documentation
- Supporting the maintenance of cleanliness, safety protocols, and overall presentation
- Assisting with fundraisers, community events, and centre‑wide activities
- Collaborating with team members to resolve issues and enhance visitor experience
- Carrying out any additional duties required to meet the needs of the business

Pay: £12.71 per hour
