We’re The Visual Unit (TVU), a retail branding agency crafting experiential retail environments. As a result of continuing business growth, a position has arisen within our company for a CAD / Architectural Technician.
Hours: Full-time Mon-Fri
Location: Lower Sydenham, London. (Hybrid work arrangements may potentially be available subject to agreement.)
Salary: £45k on appointment. Subject to successful performance in the role, this will rise to £55k after six months and to £60k after 12 months
What the job is about
You’ll be responsible for turning initial designs for bespoke client projects into technical drawings and models for manufacturing purposes. Our expectations are:
Client Relationships
· Collaborate closely with clients to understand their requirements, preferences, and budget constraints.
Technical Drawing
· Create detailed and accurate technical drawings and 3D models using Computer-Aided Design (CAD) software for bespoke projects, ensuring they align with client specifications and are suitable for construction purposes.
· Work closely with the design team and Project Managers, as well as TVU’s build and production teams to enable seamless transition from design to construction, providing technical support and ongoing communications during the whole process.
· Conduct thorough quality checks on drafted work to guarantee accuracy, adherence to specifications, and compliance with industry standards.
· Stay updated with the latest industry trends, technological advancements, materials, and construction techniques to incorporate innovative ideas into projects.
· Conduct site visits as necessary to assess project requirements and provide on-site support during the construction phase.
Project Management
· Manage multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring deadlines and client expectations are met.
Who we’re looking for
The person specification for this role is as follows:
· A diploma or degree in Computer-Aided Design (CAD), drafting, engineering, architecture or a related field is expected.
· Experience as a CAD/Architectural Technician or Draughtsperson, especially in the retail design and merchandising industry, will be an advantage.
· Experience of Rhino and/or SketchUp software would be an advantage.
· Knowledge of varied construction materials, fabrication techniques, and technical drawing/drafting principles.
· Excellent communication, team-working and problem-solving skills
· Strong attention to detail, and self-motivated to deliver brilliant results.
