Job Overview
We are seeking a skilled and motivated Shuttering Joiner to join our construction team. In this vital role, you will be responsible for constructing, installing, and dismantling formwork (shuttering) used to shape concrete structures in commercial and industrial projects. Your expertise will ensure the precise creation of molds that form foundations, walls, columns, and other structural elements. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work on diverse projects while honing your craftsmanship in a dynamic environment. MUST HOLD BLUE SKILLED CSCS.
Responsibilities
- Read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and project specifications to accurately construct formwork for concrete structures
- Measure, cut, assemble, and install formwork using hand tools such as hammers, chisels, and screwdrivers
- Operate power tools including drills, saws, and grinders safely and efficiently to shape and secure formwork components
- Use welding techniques to join metal formwork elements where necessary, ensuring stability and durability
- Collaborate with team members to lift heavy formwork panels and materials safely during installation and removal
- Maintain high standards of safety by adhering to all health and safety regulations during construction activities
- Conduct routine inspections of formwork for alignment, stability, and quality before concrete pouring
- Dismantle formwork carefully after concrete has set, ensuring no damage to the structure or materials
- Assist with other construction tasks such as masonry or carpentry as needed on site
Experience
- Proven experience as a Shuttering Joiner or similar role within the construction industry
- Strong knowledge of mechanical systems related to formwork construction
- Skilled in using hand tools, power tools, welding equipment, and heavy lifting techniques
- Familiarity with roofing or masonry work is advantageous but not essential
- Ability to read technical drawings and interpret project specifications accurately
- Physical stamina for heavy lifting and working at heights or in confined spaces
- Valid driver’s license for commercial driving duties is preferred but not mandatory
