Overview
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced groundworker foreman to lead and oversee groundworks operations on construction sites across the UK. This dynamic role requires a proactive leader who can manage a team effectively, ensure safety standards are maintained, and deliver high-quality work to be proud of. As a groundworker foreman, you will play a pivotal role in coordinating daily activities, supervising and working alongside skilled and unskilled workers, and ensuring projects progress smoothly and efficiently. Your expertise will help drive project success while fostering a safe, productive work environment.
Responsibilities
- Lead and supervise groundworks teams, assigning tasks clearly and efficiently to meet project timelines.
- Oversee the preparation of sites, including excavation, trenching, drainage, ducting, foundations and paving activities.
- Ensure all work complies with health and safety regulations, conducting regular site inspections to identify hazards.
- Coordinate with project managers, engineers, and other trades to align daily operations with project plans.
- Utilize management tools such as Primavera P6 for scheduling and tracking project progress.
- Monitor quality standards throughout the groundwork process, addressing issues promptly to maintain high standards.
- Provide training and guidance to team members on best practices, safety procedures, and technical tasks.
Qualifications
- Proven experience supervising groundworks or civil engineering projects with a strong track record of leadership in construction environments.
- Supervising experience in managing teams of groundworkers or similar trades.
- SSSTS Or equivalent supervisory tickets.
- Strong management skills with the ability to motivate teams and coordinate multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Excellent communication skills to liaise effectively with clients, subcontractors, and internal teams.
- Knowledge of health and safety regulations relevant to groundworks operations.
- Valid certifications in construction safety (such as CSCS/NRSWA ETC)
