As our business continues to grow, we are looking for an experienced Electronics Repair Technician specialising in audio amplifier diagnostics and repair to join our workshop team.
The Role
This is a hands-on technical position where you will diagnose, repair and test a wide range of audio equipment, with a particular focus on audio amplifiers. You'll work alongside a skilled team of technicians, carrying out complex component-level repairs while helping to maintain the high standards of workmanship and reliability that Multicare Electronics is known for.
Key Responsibilities
- Diagnose faults to component level on audio amplifiers and associated electronics.
- Carry out high-quality repairs using professional electronic test equipment.
- Complete channel rebuilds, including replacing failed components and restoring amplifier channels to full working order.
- Repair amplifier output stages, power supplies and protection circuits.
- Work on a variety of amplifier technologies.
- Perform functional testing, calibration and quality assurance before equipment is returned to customers.
- Read and interpret circuit diagrams, schematics and service manuals.
- Maintain accurate repair records using our service management system.
- Assist with technical problem solving and support other technicians when required.
- Help identify recurring product faults and contribute to improving repair procedures.
- Maintain a clean, organised and safe workshop environment.
Essential Skills & Experience
- 3–5 years' experience in audio electronics diagnostics and repair.
- Proven experience repairing audio amplifiers to component level.
- Strong understanding of analogue and digital electronic circuits.
- Experience carrying out channel rebuilds, output stage repairs and power supply diagnostics.
- Experience working with and repairing different classes of amplifiers.
- Confident using oscilloscopes, multimeters, signal generators and other professional electronic test equipment.
- Ability to read and interpret circuit diagrams and service documentation.
- Excellent fault-finding and diagnostic skills.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality repairs.
- Good organisational and time management skills.
Desirable Skills
Experience with one or more of the following would be advantageous:
- Premium Hi-Fi equipment
- AV receivers
- Power amplifiers
- Surface-mount (SMD) rework
- Audio signal tracing and calibration
- Firmware updates and software configuration
- Experience working within a manufacturer-authorised repair centre
