About the Role
We are looking for an ambitious, experienced and highly driven Lettings Manager or Senior Lettings Negotiator to join our growing business and play a key role in developing our presence within the Oxford rental market.
This is an exciting opportunity for someone who wants more than simply managing an existing portfolio. You will have the opportunity to build a lettings operation from the ground up, develop your own client base, win new landlord instructions and ultimately build and lead a team around you.
We are looking for someone with genuine entrepreneurial spirit – someone who is comfortable starting with a blank sheet of paper, picking up the phone, generating new business and building relationships from the ground up.
The successful candidate will ideally have an established network of contacts within the Oxford property and lettings market, but more importantly will have the tenacity, confidence, energy and determination to create opportunities rather than wait for them to come along.
Key Responsibilities
- Take ownership of developing and growing the lettings side of the business in Oxford.
- Generate new landlord instructions through proactive business development and cold calling.
- Identify and pursue new business opportunities within the Oxford rental market.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with landlords, investors and property professionals.
- Conduct valuations and provide professional rental and market advice to prospective landlords.
- Develop and manage a pipeline of new business opportunities from initial contact through to instruction.
- Market properties effectively and ensure they are presented to the highest possible standard.
- Manage the lettings process from instruction through to tenancy commencement.
- Work closely with landlords and tenants to provide an exceptional level of service.
- Develop local market knowledge and establish the company as a recognised name within the Oxford rental market.
- Help shape the systems, processes and culture of the growing lettings operation.
- Recruit, train and develop additional members of the lettings team as the business grows.
- Ultimately take responsibility for the performance and growth of the lettings department.
About You
We are looking for someone who is commercially minded, highly motivated and genuinely hungry for success.
You may currently be working as a Lettings Manager, Senior Lettings Negotiator, Business Development Manager or similar senior position within the residential lettings industry.
You will ideally have:
- Proven experience within the residential lettings industry.
- A strong understanding of the Oxford rental market.
- A demonstrable track record of winning new landlord business.
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
- Confidence making cold calls and generating business proactively.
- The ability to build genuine, long-term relationships with landlords and clients.
- Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
- A positive, energetic and professional approach.
- The ambition to progress into a senior leadership position.
- The ability to work independently and take ownership of your results.
- A resilient and determined attitude – you will not be someone who gives up after the first "no".
Existing relationships and contacts within the Oxford property market would be a significant advantage.
