Engine Test Technician

We currently have a vacancy for a test technician to support our engineering team – bench testing high performance engines.

Founded in the 1970’s Nicholson Mclaren Engines Ltd – based near Wokingham, Berkshire is a company synonymous with high performance engine development.
Due to continued growth, we currently have a vacancy for a test technician to support our test activities and work alongside our engineering team.
Operating from our modern facilities, you will be required to carry out all aspects of engine testing, either on our engine test beds or supporting our team using our bespoke (in car) test cell.
JOB DESCRIPTION
The successful candidate will be supporting all aspects of engine and hub test operations and possess the ability to learn and understand test installation, engine testing and operating systems.
Our engine test technicians are responsible for carrying out tests on complete engines or assemblies, rigging and maintaining test hardware. Engine test technicians are also responsible for operation and programming of automated test equipment as per our practices.
The Role:
Fitting, removing and operation of engines (or associated sub-assemblies) onto test hardware Rigging of instrumentation onto test pieces. Operation maintenance, and calibration of equipment.
Design and manufacture of tooling or installation hardware.
Maintain paperwork for tracking, lifting, fault database, maintenance sheets, and process measurements and checks.
Consideration of health and safety, environmental and energy impact.
The ideal candidate should: -
· Poses an understanding of engine management technology.
· Be confident in willing to learn engine mapping.
· Understand wiring diagrams.
· Be experienced in fault finding diagnosis.
· Familiarity with using engine dynamometers would be beneficial.
· Familiarity with using hub dynamometers would be beneficial.
· Experienced in engine / dyno installation would be beneficial.
· Poses the ability to read & understand technical instructions.
· Must be PC literate.
· Confident in producing written reports.

· Good understanding of internal combustion engines and engine test methodologies. Flexible attitude & willing to assist with engine build shop activity when required.
