We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled Senior Buyer to join our clients fast paced procurement team. The successful candidate will be responsible for the strategic procurement of materials and equipment for manufacturing and Projects across the UK. This role involves managing a substantial spend of £50M across a team of 5, requiring strong leadership and organisational skills.
- Develop and implement procurement strategies to optimise cost savings, improve quality, and ensure timely delivery of materials and equipment
- Manage a diverse portfolio of suppliers, fostering strong relationships and negotiating favorable terms and conditions
- Analyse market trends, conduct research on potential suppliers, and stay informed about industry developments
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including engineering, production, and finance, to align procurement activities with organisational goals
- Oversee the entire procurement process, from requisition to delivery, ensuring compliance with company policies and procedures
- Develop and maintain key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure and improve procurement effectiveness
- Implement and manage risk mitigation strategies to address supply chain vulnerabilities
- Lead contract negotiations, review legal terms, and manage supplier agreements
- Utilise procurement software systems to streamline processes and enhance data-driven decision making
- Continuously identify and implement process improvements to increase efficiency and reduce costs
- Ensure adherence to ethical procurement practices and compliance with relevant regulations
- Prepare and present regular reports to senior management on procurement performance and strategic initiatives
- 3-5 years of experience in a senior procurement role, preferably in a manufacturing or construction
- Proven track record of managing high-value procurement portfolios (£50M+) and leading procurement teams
- Strong analytical and negotiation skills, with the ability to drive cost savings and value creation
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to interact effectively at all levels of the organisation
- Demonstrated ability to build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers, internal stakeholders, and team members
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite, particularly Excel for data analysis and PowerPoint for presentations
- Familiarity with Bistract software or similar procurement management systems is desirable
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and develop team members
- Excellent organisational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
- Strategic thinker with a proactive approach to problem-solving and continuous improvement
- In-depth knowledge of procurement best practices, supply chain management, and relevant industry regulations
