HGV Technician – Nights (Cardiff)
Pay: £21.32 per hour
Hours: Night Shifts, 19:00 – 06:30 (11-hour paid shifts with 30-minute break)
Shift Pattern:
Week 1: Monday – Thursday (44 hours)
Week 2: Wednesday – Friday (33 hours)
Contract: Permanent
Earning Potential (OTE)
- Hourly Rate: £21.32 per hour
- Average Basic Salary: £48,700+ per year (based on average 38.5 paid hours per week)
- Overtime: Available at enhanced rates
- Realistic OTE: £53,000+ per year with overtime
Overview
We're looking for an experienced, qualified HGV Technician for a permanent night shift in Cardiff. This role is ideal for a skilled technician with a dealer background who values a rotating schedule, excellent base pay, and the opportunity to work with a leading commercial vehicle brand. With an average basic salary of £48,700+ and OTE over £53,000, this is a fantastic opportunity to earn top rates while enjoying extended breaks between shifts.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out servicing, maintenance, and major repairs on a modern fleet of HGVs
- Perform advanced diagnostics and fault-finding using manufacturer-specific equipment
- Ensure all work is completed to the highest safety and quality standards during night operations
- Maintain accurate documentation and uphold workshop organisation and safety protocols
What You'll Need
- Recognised Level 3 qualification in Heavy Vehicle Maintenance (NVQ/City & Guilds/IMI)
- Proven experience as an HGV Technician, ideally within a dealership environment
- Strong diagnostic, electrical, and mechanical repair skills
- Full UK driving licence
- Flexibility to work the rotating night shift pattern
